Multimedia University Engineering Conference

Theme: Embracing the future of Smart World Through Engineering and Technology


The Multimedia University Engineering Conference 2023 (MECON 2023) aims to bring together related research scholars, educators, practitioners, policy makers, enthusiasts, fellow students, and industries to share and exchange their research experiences and results on all aspects of engineering technologies from various perspectives, disciplines, and fields. It also offers an interdisciplinary platform for all stakeholders to present and discuss the most latest trends, innovations, and concerns as well as practical challenges encountered, and solutions adopted in the realm of engineering technologies. This conference is being co-organised by the Faculty of Engineering (FOE) and Faculty of Engineering and Technology (FET), Multimedia University. MECON 2023 carries the theme `Embracing the future of Smart World Through Engineering and Technology’.


    All accepted papers will be published in indexed journals (subject to meeting individual journals requirement) or proceedings (by AIP Proceedings, indexing status: Following are participating journals:

Prof. M A Hannan

Sunway University, Malaysia

Dr M A Hannan recently joined as a full Professor at the School of Engineering and Technology, Sunway University, Malaysia. He was a Professor of Intelligent Systems in Energy and Power Applications and the Advisor for Research and Publication at Innovation & Research Management Centre (iRMC), Universiti Tenaga Nasional (The National Energy University), Malaysia since Sept 2016 to May 2023. He was a full Professor at the FKAB, the National University of Malaysia (UKM) since May 2008 to Sept 2016. He has a philosophical vision of multidisciplinary, inter-disciplinary and trans-disciplinary research approaches to developing, analysing and resolving issues in energy and power applications to achieve efficient, sustainable, and low carbon technologies for future energy needs, and sustainability towards achieving net-zero target. His research interests and skills are on the modelling, designing and developing of energy and power applications, renewable energy sources, its grid integration, microgrid, energy management system, artificial intelligence based optimized algorithms for converter controllers, battery energy storage, electric vehicle, grid decarbonisation and renewables integrated power trans-disciplinary research.


Prof. Ir. Dr. Abu Bakar Sulong

Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia

Abu Bakar Sulong is Professor at the Dept. of Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering, UKM. He graduated with a BEng (Hons) in Mechanical and System Engineering from Gifu University Japan, 2001. He then worked as an trainee engineer in SMK Corporation in Ibaraki, Japan for a year followed by as a design engineer in Malaysia for two years. He joined UKM as a tutor in January, 2004. He then continued his studies in March, 2004. In 2008, he received his PhD from Sejong University, South Korea under Advanced Material Processing Lab, Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering Department. He teaches for undergraduate and post graduate of Mechanical Engineering Programme. He served as Editor-in-Chief for Jurnal Kejuruteraan (Journal of Engineering) an indexed ESCI (WoS). Currently, he is deputy director at Center of Research and Instrumentation Management (CRIM). His specializations are in the area of Composite Material Processing and Powder Metallurgy. Currently, he is an active researcher for four research groups in UKM. He has experienced as project and programme leader for grants worth more than R6.0 million. Based on Scopus data on Jan 2023, he has 270 published documents, 49465 citations, 36 h-index with more than 100 manuscripts in Q1 and Q2 journals. He been invited as keynotes, invited talks and speakers at various international and national conferences. He is also a Professional Engineer with Practice under Board Engineer Malaysia (BEM). He also serves as engineering programmes accessor, panel for grants evaluation and committee of professional organizations. He is Top Research Scientist Malaysia (TRSM) under Academy Science Malaysia (ASM) for 2021.
