The Multimedia University Engineering Conference 2024 (MECON 2024) aims to bring together related research scholars, educators, practitioners, policy makers, enthusiasts, fellow students, and industries to share and exchange their research experiences and results on all aspects of engineering technologies from various perspectives, disciplines, and fields. It also offers an interdisciplinary platform for all stakeholders to present and discuss the latest trends, innovations, and concerns as well as practical challenges encountered, and solutions adopted in the realm of engineering technologies. This conference is being co-organised by the Faculty of Engineering (FOE) and Faculty of Engineering and Technology (FET), Multimedia University. MECON 2024 carries the theme `Embracing the future of Smart World Through Engineering and Technology’. MECON2024 is technically co-sponsored by IEEE Signal Processing Society, Malaysian Chapter and financially co-sponsored by Multimedia University, Malaysia.

PUBLICATIONS

    All papers must be original and not simultaneously submitted to another journal or conference. Please prepare your manuscript according to the IEEE Conference Paper format. A maximum of 6 page(s) manuscript is to be prepared. Conference proceedings will be submitted for IEEEXplore and other abstracting and indexing database inclusion. Accepted papers will be submitted for inclusion into IEEE Xplore subject to meeting IEEE Xplore’s scope and quality requirements. Selected papers will be invited to be extended and submitted to MECON2024 special issue in Cogent Engineering.

Dr. Parameshachari B.D. currently working as an Associate Dean (R&D) and Professor in the Department of Electronics and communication Engineering at Nitte Meenakshi Institute of Technology, Bengaluru, Karnataka, India Affiliated to Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU), Belagavi, Karnataka, India. He is also the Visiting Professor for University of Rome Tor Vergata, Italy. He is currently serving as the Student Activity Committee Chair, IEEE Bangalore Section. He is also listed in the World’s Top 2% Scientist by Stanford University, USA for his research works. He is recognized as Research Guide at VTU,Belagavi, awarded Three PhD and currently, Five Research Scholars were pursuing Ph.D. Degree under his supervision. He has published over 150+ articles in SCI, SCOPUS and other indexed journals and also in several international conferences. He is the Associate Editor for Expert Systems (Wiley), International Journal of Computational Intelligence Systems (Springer) and International Journal of Reconfigurable and Embedded Systems (IJRES). He is also serving as Editorial Board Member, Academic Editor and reviewer for several international journals indexed in SCI and SCOPUS. He is the recipient of IEEE Bangalore Section Outstanding Volunteer Award, IEEE Bangalore Section Best Branch Counsellor Award, Outstanding Service Excellence award from IEEE ITS Bangalore Chapter, IEEE Bangalore Section Chair's Recognition from IEEE Bangalore Section and Outstanding Reviewer-Elsevier Signal Processing. He has served in various expert committees for VTU, Belagavi. He has also served as the Lead Guest Editor for Springer, Elsevier and IEEE Journals. Under his guidance, IEEE NMIT Student Branch has received Rs. 20,00,000 (25,000 USD) funding from IEEE AESS Society. His research interests include Image Processing, Computer Vision, Network Security, Language Processing, Data Science and IoT. He is the Senior Member of IEEE, Fellow of IETE and Fellow of ISAC. Dr. Athar Waseem

Dr. Athar Waseem, a Senior Member of IEEE, currently holds the position of Faculty Member at DECE-FET-IIUI in Pakistan. Prior to this role, he has amassed experience in both telecom industry and academia. Dr. Athar's ongoing research pursuits encompass diverse areas such as 5G and B5G Communication, Radio Communication, Pattern Recognition, Machine Learning, Signal Processing, CS-based Channel Estimation & Security Techniques for Massive MIMO Systems & D2D Communications in 5G & B5G Networks. Furthermore, Dr. Athar heads the wireless technology research lab at IIU. With a prolific scholarly output, he has authored/produced over 50+ peer-reviewed journal and conference papers, including conference proceedings. Moreover, he has provided guidance to several MS/PhD students, past and present. Dr. Athar is widely recognized internationally for his expertise in organizing IEEE conferences. Since 2014, he has successfully organized numerous conferences at international venues across various domains of Electrical Engineering and Technologies. Presently, he holds roles in several conferences and journals, including Executive Chair, Technical Chair, Founding Chair, Technical Advisor, and Editor/Associate Editor.

Dato' Wei Chuan Beng

Dato’ Wei Chuan Beng is a distinguished leader in the digital industry with a notable track record of achievements. Dato’ Wei has led groundbreaking R&D efforts in the digital/ICT sector as a co-founder of REDtone Telecommunications, a pioneering MSC status company. His successful listing of the company in 2004 solidified his prominence in the Malaysian start-up landscape. Since his exit from the company in 2015, Dato’ Wei has been an avid angel investor, offering personal mentorship to diverse start-ups. Dato’ Wei is currently the Co-Chairman of the Malaysia-China Digital Cooperation Council (MCDC) which aims to promote and facilitate cooperation between Malaysia and China in areas related to the digital economy. In his capacity as the Co-Chair of the MCDC, Dato' Wei is dedicated to spearheading initiatives related to e-commerce, digital infrastructure, digital skills development, and startup support. Dato’ Wei was a Board Member of Malaysia’s Social Security Organisation (PERKESO) and now serves as an Investment Panel Member. Since January 2023, he has been serving as a Commission Member of the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC). Prior to his current role, he served as a Commission Member of the MCMC from 2018 – 2020. Dato’ Wei also serves as the Council Member of National Productivity Corporation (NPC) which is chaired by the Prime Minister of Malaysia and the Champion of Digital Productivity Nexus (DPN) under the Malaysia Productivity Corporation (MPC) since 2020. In 2020, Dato’ Wei was appointed as Council Member of the National Digital Economy and 4IR Council (MED4IRN), which serves as a delivery-driven governance structure to implement of the blueprint, MyDIGITAL, until the year of 2022. In addition to his role, Dato’ Wei is the Co-Founder and Chairman of Otti Sdn. Bhd. (formerly known as Digital Way Academy), an education social enterprise with a mission to develop human competency for the digital era. Through Otti, he actively nurtures future-ready digital talents in Malaysia while championing digital skills development. Dato’ Wei has contributed immensely to higher education. He was formerly a private sector advisory committee member to the Ministry of Higher Education. He has been serving as an adjunct professor of Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) since 2017. Aside from that, Dato’ Wei is also a master trainer of professional selling skills and entrepreneur development programme. A committed member of the Young Presidents’ Organisation (YPO), Dato’ Wei has held significant positions within the organisation, including Chairman of the Malaysia Chapter, Chairman of the Malaysia Gold Chapter, and EXCO of YPO Technology Network. Currently, he serves as the Vice Chair of YPO China Business Network, further highlighting his extensive network and industry acumen. In his free time, Dato’ Wei indulges in his passion of learning a wide spectrum of subjects encompassing politics, economics, history, psychology, sales and marketing, corporate finance, and martial arts, reflecting a well-rounded personality invested in continuous learning and holistic well-being. Dato’ Wei obtained his bachelor’s degree (Honors) in Electrical Engineering from University Technology Malaysia in 1989 and Diploma in Management (Bank Negara Gold Medalist Award Winner) from Malaysia Institute of Management (MIM) in 1995. He also completed an Entrepreneur Development Program from the renowned MIT Sloan School of Management in USA in 2006.

Mr. Anwar Faizd Osman

Head of 5G Product Development
Telekom Malaysia

ANWAR FAIZD OSMAN was born in Georgetown, Penang. He has a Master of Science degree in Electrical and Electronic engineering from Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM). His master's thesis is on wideband low noise amplifier design. He is currently the Head of 5G Product Development for Telekom Malaysia. In Telekom Malaysia, he leads the End to End roadmap development for Telekom Malaysia (TM) 5G Core as a Service, which include Network Slicing, 5G Standalone capable solutions and related 5G Value Added Services. Prior to Telekom Malaysia, he has worked in Rohde & Schwarz, Agilent Technologies, Motorola Solutions and Intel Malaysia, either in manufacturing or field application positions. He has published multiple technical papers on LNA, RF switches, and RF filter designs. His research interests include wireless testing for mobile operators and interference hunting. Mr. Osman has been a Committee Member of IEEE ED/MTT/SSC Penang Chapter, since 2015, currently serves as the Chapter Auditor. He is the Former Deputy Chair of IEEE Microwave, Electron Devices, and Solid-State Symposium IMESS 2018. He is a part of the National 5G Taskforce Member and the Chairperson of the 5G Ecosystem and Timeline Sub-Working Group, under the Spectrum Working Group of the Task Force.
