ABOUT

The 3rd International Conference on Communication, Language, Education and Social Sciences (CLESS 2022) will be held on 25-27 July 2022. This year’s conference will be a part of the bigger Digital Future Congress (DIFCON) comprising of various other conferences in different fields and will be held online. CLESS 2022 is unique in which it combines communication, language, education, and social science in an international academic conference. The aim of CLESS 2022 is to offer a platform for both local and international academics, educators, researchers and other professionals to meet, share and discuss latest research, trends, ideas and innovation in the field of communication, language, education, psychology and social sciences. The conference is aimed to provide a platform for young researchers as well as to support and encourage other researchers to present their research, to network within the international community of researchers and to share and seek the insight and advice of successful senior researchers all over the world during the conference.

Professor Emeritus Thomas A. Bauer

University of Vienna

Professor Emeritus at Department of Communication at the University of Vienna, being nominated in 1993 as Ordinarius for Audio-visual Media, developing research, and teaching subjects such as Media Cultural Studies, Media Literacy Studies, Media Theory and Epistemology, and Communication Constructivist Studies. Additional research and teaching fields are Future Studies, Environmental Communication, Health Communication, Urban Studies, Trans-cultural Dialogue of Religions, Migration, Minorities and Social Change issues. Next to theoretical work, he maintains a critical reflexive interrelation between theoretical analysis and innovative media practice. That has been the motif of founding University Broadcasting (u-tv, u-ton) 1995 and co-founding OKTO Community TV Vienna in 2005 as a model of alternative media-work and other media projects field of press magazines.Among other functions currently, he is President of Austrian-American Film Association (AAFA), the honorary president of the board of publishers of OKTO Community TV Vienna, acting since 2005, as well Acting President of ESEC, the European Society for Education and Communication, in which also is framed the directing of the international jury for the European Media Award (Erasmus Media Award) for outstanding educational media, given annually since 2006 in Vienna and Berlin. His academic work has always been oriented to international relations. Out of this interest, he has maintained many academic cooperative relations with universities in different countries in the EU, South-East Asia, Latin America, the USA, China, Turkey, and the Balkans. Since 2015, he has been working as the scientific coordinator and advisor of Media Literacy Programs related to social media culture, societal politics, public health, and the environment, achieved academic partnerships with universities mainly from Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam, China, and within the European Union.Dr Bauer was born in 1945, in Diessen am Ammersee. After finishing his learning in Philosophy and Theology at German universities, to which he kept a membership regarding the religious congregations until 1971, he completed his education in Communication and Media Studies as well as in Cultural Sociology with a doctorate in philosophy at the University of Salzburg, followed by a Diploma in Group Dynamics and Communication Training in Zürich. Working as an external lecturer at several Austrian Universities in 1980, he achieved the academic certification of teaching and research (Habilitation) in Communication Studies at the University of Salzburg, focusing on Media Literacy Studies. In 1993, he accepted from the Austrian Government the Minister of Education nomination for a chair holding professorship at the University of Vienna, where he was the head dean from 1995 – 1999. He was named professor emeritus in 2013.

Dr. Thavamaran Kanesan

Thavamaran completed his Ph.D. degree in Engineering in less than 3 years, majoring in the integration of 4th Generation Long Term Evolution (LTE) and optical communications. Thereafter, he solely founded Proofreading By A UK Ph.D., an Academic Consulting Firm that provides services across many verticals. The firm has grown from having a single founder to currently employing over 102 Consultants all over the globe, and currently serves Corporates/Universities in over 34 Countries, including UK, Saudi Arabia, Malaysia, Korea, Australia, and many more. In his personal Research Journey, Thavamaran has an exciting publication record and awards, with > 60 publications (list attached), mostly published in (SCI / SSCI – ISI) Quartile 1 journals and Low Acceptance Rate conferences. Most notably, he had garnered over +96,000 Academic Followers in his vibrant Facebook page/group, which completely focuses on Academic & Career Paradigms. Proofreading By A UK Ph.D. currently serves as the official editorial for many Universities, Governmental and Private Organizations, notably MABMS, MARDI, USM GBS, UniMAS JCEST, UMK JEB, USIM, UPM Civil, UKM Social Science, and OZZIE AMDHS. Apart from his entrepreneurship journey, he was also with the prestigious Aston Institute of Photonic Technologies, Birmingham (UK) as a postdoctoral researcher and worked in European FP7 project FOX-C and EPSRC UNLOC focusing on all optical-orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (AO-OFDM) and coherent O-OFDM (CO-OFDM). In order to gain further industrial insights, he joined Telekom Malaysia as a Technical Manager, focusing on radio-over-fiber system projects and directly managed 24 members of technical staffs. To date, Thavamaran has managed to secure over RM 23.7 Mil (USD 5.4 Mil) worth of Research Grants and won numerous Awards, namely BPH Successful People in Malaysia, Best Papers and Researcher-of-the-year awards.

SHUKRI RIFAIE

ADJUNCT PROFESSOR, School of Media & Communication, Taylors University, Malaysia,

Shukri has over 35 years experience in the Malaysian branding and advertising industry. He is a co-founder of Rifaie, Chua & Sethi Sdn Bhd., a brand strategy consultancy since 2009, with an aim to help local businesses compete with international brands from a position of strength. He started his career with JWT in 1983 and stayed there for five years before moving to McCann-Erickson until 2001. In 2002 he was appointed as CEO of Bates Malaysia. In 2007 to 2009 he was the CEO of Publicis Groupe Malaysia. He has worked on and been part of the success of some of the global and Malaysia’s most respected brands including Malaysia Airlines, Tourism Malaysia, Coca-Cola, Levi’s, Nokia, Citibank, Hewlett Packard, Cadbury, Nestle, Unilever, Gillette, Honda, F&N, Maxis, Sepang F1 Circuit, Sime Darby Property, NBOS campaign and many more. He was well remembered in heading a team delivering the iconic campaigns like Chup Coca-Cola, Eat Football-Sleep Football-Drink Coca-Cola and the first ever Coca-Cola Global Ramadan TV Commercial aired in over 20 countries in 1997. He was awarded the prestigious McCann-Erickson Chairman Circle Award, New York -Top 50 Executives Worldwide in 1998 & the Harrison K McCann Leadership award in 2001. In 2008, he received the Anugerah Khidmat Cemerlang from Matrade, Ministry of International Trade & Industry under the Brand Promotion Grant Technical Committee. Shukri and team strongly believe and are committed to distilling the best practices and solutions gleaned from their diverse, multinational experiences for the benefit of Malaysian clients. He is also the Co-founder of REKANEGARA, a design community advocate with an aim to empower creative professionals via knowledge sharing sessions. The program engages professionals with vast industry experience to voluntarily share their knowledge on design, creative, branding and related marketing disciplines.
